![]() The second session of the UChicago Charter book club will take place late this summer! We will be discussing Raising Confident Black Kids by M.J. All three leaders have made invaluable contributions to the UChicago Charter network since the beginning of their tenures, and we cannot wait to see what the future has in store for them! UChicago Charter will miss you dearly. This summer, the UChicago Charter community will say farewell to three leaders: Erin Gilmore Slack, who served as Campus Director of Donoghue Jerrold Washington, who served as Chief Academic Officer and Will Torres, who served as Chief College Officer. Saying Farewell to Departing Leaders: UChicago Charter Is Wishing You the Best!Įrin Gilmore Slack, Jerrold Washington, and Will Torres Each campus will hold community meetings over the summer for families to learn and ask questions about updated expectations and protocols. UChicago Charter expects certain health and safety protocols to stay in place throughout the fall semester, such as our current face mask requirement, the restriction of visitors to campus buildings, and the placement and use of hand sanitizer dispensers. Students will begin the school year on August 16, and they will attend full-time in-person classroom instruction throughout the school year. UChicago Charter will fully reopen campuses for in-person learning at the start of the 2021-2022 school year. UChicago Charter to Fully Reopen Campuses for In-Person Learning on August 16 From vaccine clinics for staff and students set up by the University of Chicago Medical Center, to the invaluable resources provided by the Office of Civic Engagement, to our community partners, like MetroSquash, the Academy Group, Bright Star, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, to the UChicago Charter Board of Directors and Advisory Council, we have so much gratitude for the partners, volunteers, and staff who ensured we came together to best serve our young people at a time when they needed it most.Īnd finally, to our families who supported one another both materially and emotionally, and who played a role like never before in their children's education: thank you. I could not be more proud to be a part of the UChicago Charter family. Last, but not least, our success this year was supported by the community and our partnerships through incredible ways. We have never felt more confident in our next generation of changemakers. ![]() This fall, they will begin their college careers at Georgetown, Grinnell College, Denison University, the University of Chicago, Ohio Wesleyan University, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and so many more fantastic institutions. Our graduating seniors, the UCW High School Class of 2021, did not fail to impress us this year. ![]() And the success of our blended learning expansion would not have been possible without the support of our families, who have demonstrated amazing commitment to their students' educational attainment. Our students have made concrete progress towards mastering their math and reading skills through their fearless foray into blended learning. We managed to maintain high attendance rates.
